Karting in Thailand: National 3 first images, a gentleman farmer and a messy start!
Tuesday, 08 July 2008

ImageAll the drivers who entrusted KartingPhotography with the coverage of their racing exploits last weekend came home with a trophy. And half of them won their race. We are of course delighted but cannot help wonder: does one drives faster when he knows he is being shot at? Perhaps you should try one day to have your pictures taken.

ImageWaiting for the official results and our full article we have exclusive images we want to share with you.

A racer inspecting his plantations and the disorderly start offered to us by the young boys in not so young bodies we call Seniors in Thailand... Fortunately nobody was injured, which is why we can publish these pics.

Karting Asia: AKOC 2008, Round 1 at Macau the Race Results, Report and Pictures
Saturday, 05 July 2008
  1. ImageThe Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC) has several merits beyond being the only regional forum where the best Asian drivers can compete.
  2. It is professionally organized and it has adopted the CIK format whereby a racer has to go through 3 qualifying heats, a pre final and a final before eventually holding a well-deserved trophy.
  3. And if you are used to jump start in your National Championship, beware. The enforcement of starting rules in AKOC meetings is strict. The work of race marshalls was facilitated at Macau because the circuit already has, painted on the track, the CIK-FIA white lines between which racers must stay during the starting approach. These new white lines were actually tested for the first time last year at Macau during the AKOC/CIK Asia Pacific Championship and it would be nice to see them on all Asian tracks (any measure that is simple and inexpensive to implement should be implemented...).
  4. If you are winning all your races at home there are only two possibilities, either you are very good or, to be diplomatic, your competitors have not yet reached your skills level. And if you want to check if you are really at the top there is only one possibility, to join the next 5 rounds of AKOC!
